Services for Travelers with Disabilities

The Central Terminal Area at Newark Liberty International Airport consists of Terminals A, B and C.

Most of the terminals have been modernized over the last decade, offering accessibility at drinking fountains, restrooms, retail stores and food services. If you need assistance with accessibility, ask a red-jacketed Customer Care Representative or inquire at the information booth located on the Arrivals Level in any terminal. For specific information on accessibility at the airport, see Accessibility Chart. To download a brochure with access information, click here.

Call your airline if you have questions about boarding the aircraft and getting off the aircraft. In addition, if you are not accompanied by or met at the airport by a friend or relative, it is important that you contact your airline in advance of your flight about any specific needs. If you are traveling with a motorized wheelchair, contact your airline to determine their policy on transporting battery-powered wheelchairs.

Wi-Fi is available at Newark Liberty International. Most public places in almost all terminals are "hot spots" offering high-speed connectivity. You can jump online near ticketing, a boarding gate, workstations, and in the food courts. Visit www.panynj.info/CommutingTravel/airports/html/ for information on how to connect.

Parking
The parking lots near the entrances of each terminal have a number of spaces designated for travelers with disabilities. See the Map of Parking Lots showing the location of these spaces. To park in these spaces and receive the lowest parking rate, official license plates or permits issued by a municipality or state of residence must be prominently displayed in the vehicle’s window. Parking fees are listed below:
Economy Long-term Parking Lot P6:
$15 for the first 24-hour period or part $5 for each 8-hour or part thereafter Parking Lot Operator - 973-961-6421/6422 (Total travel time from the P6 lot to the terminal area via a free courtesy bus is approximately 20 minutes depending on traffic.)

Departures
Curbside unloading areas for baggage and passengers are available at each terminal and in most cases are weather-protected and located close to each airline's entrance. Please make arrangements with your airline at least 24 hours in advance to confirm assistance with baggage check-in, ticketing and movement to the gate area. Skycaps are available in front of the terminals to assist you with your luggage.

Arrivals
Jetways provide weather-protected passage from the aircraft to your terminal. In the terminal, elevators are available to reach Baggage Claim, Ground Transportation or on-airport connecting flights. In the Baggage Claim areas, Skycaps are available to help you with your luggage.

Ground Transportation
For your safety, always avoid accepting a ride from car service drivers who approach you. Use only authorized transportation services to travel from the airport. Follow the green signs to a Ground Transportation Counter for information on authorized, accessible transportation providers.

To ensure prompt pick-up, reservations for accessible shared ride transportation service should be made at least 24 hours in advance. Click here for information on ground transportation providers.

Getting Around the Airport
Electric Carts
Specially designed electric carts are available for disabled passengers. These carts are available upon request from your airline to transport you from the check-in area to the ticket counter and then to the departure gate during operating hours. For more information, please call your airline in advance.

AirTrain
AirTrain Newark provides a quick, easy and reliable means of traveling between the terminals and the parking lots that serve them. The entrance to the AirTrain station is on the concourse level near the middle of each terminal. Trains run between terminals A, B and C and AirTrain parking lots P1, P3, and P4 24 hours a day. Elevator service is available from the concourse entrance level to the station platform. AirTrain Newark is free for travel around the airport.

Car Rental
Vehicles equipped with hand controls are available from the on-airport car rental agencies. Please contact the car rental companies directly regarding availability, reservations and costs.

Emergency/Medical Assistance
Call the Port Authority Police at 1-973-961-6230 for assistance or dial 211 from any public phone on the airport.
